Abstract

This study explores the theological debates surrounding the Quranic phrase "Kun fa yakun" (Be, and it is), focusing on its implications in creation, divine attributes, and various Islamic schools of thought. By examining the significance of the word "Kun" in Islamic theology, the article aims to provide an analytical overview of its historical interpretations and the philosophical questions it raises, such as the nature of God's command and the connection between divine will and creation. Specifically, the discourse addresses critical questions like whether "Kun" functions as a literal tool or a metaphor, the relationship between God's creative will and the word "Kun," and whether it is an eternal or created attribute. This research contributes to understanding God's omnipotence and the boundaries of human comprehension in Islamic thought, emphasizing the intricate relationship between divine decrees and their immediate realization.
