This article presents a scholarly review of the Islamic legal boundaries regarding the keeping of dogs and the modern issues associated with it۔ In Islamic teachings, dogs are considered impure, and keeping them without necessity is prohibited۔ However, under specific circumstances, such as for hunting, farming, or protecting livestock, keeping them is deemed permissible۔ This study discusses various jurisprudential opinions regarding dog ownership in light of hadiths and also addresses the challenges posed by keeping dogs in homes in the modern era۔ The research sheds light on the reasons for the prohibition of dogs in Islam and how the modern trend of keeping pet dogs aligns with these reasons۔ Additionally, it examines the practical issues of keeping dogs as household animals, considering Islamic teachings, and explores possible solutions۔
