##article.abstract##

This research paper aims to explore the correction, rectification, and alteration of linguistic errors (Lahn) in Hadith texts, focusing on the limits and guidelines of such amendments within the Islamic scholarly tradition. The study delves into the two primary perspectives among Islamic scholars regarding Lahn: one group advocates for maintaining the exact wording of the Hadith as it was transmitted, while the other group emphasizes the correction of linguistic errors without altering the meaning. This paper analyzes the views of prominent scholars, including those of the early Hadith narrators, and examines the permissibility and necessity of correcting Lahn in Hadith texts. The research provides an in-depth exploration of the methodologies employed by classical scholars to maintain the integrity of the Hadith while addressing linguistic inaccuracies. The importance of this study lies in its contribution to understanding how to preserve the authenticity of Hadith narrations in modern times, ensuring that the meanings remain true to the original teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
